Nowadays, work conditions are very heavy, so clothes which workers wear while working, have great importance. Workers wear the same clothes at least 8 hours in one day. In this reason, it is necessary that these clothes either protect workers health and safety or are comfortable, and suitable for body motions. Especially, it has great importance that work clothes don’t prevent the body motions. If they limit body motions, this situation will either disturb workers or influence work speed, unit time, and productivity.
In this research, ergonomics and functional properties of the work clothes have been examined. In this stage, questionnaire has been applied workers who work petrochemistry, mechanical, food, and ceramic sectors in İzmir and weared work clothes, expectations for work clothes and pleasuare situations have been studied. In each sector, changing of model, pattern and fabric properties of work clothes has been examined. To take into consideration of results, model studies have been done on product groups and work clothes which are suitable ergonomics and functional properties have been designed.
