The enterprises participating in textile and apparel sector, which has an important part in Turkish economy and exports, have to produce more qualified products in shorter time and in lower cost so that they could protect their competitive power in international markets. In order to achieve this goal, they have to produce the most by using minimum; in other words they have to be productive. That’s why; productivity becomes one of the most important factors of competition. The gradual increase in the significance of productivity provides that essential importance is given to the measurement of productivity. The correct measurement of productivity is important for a plant in order to determine whether the sources are effectively used or not. In this article the methods of productivity measurement used in textile and apparel plants are discussed.
