That the ready wear production has moved to China was the start of the crisis in Turkish Ready Wear Industry. With the changing conditions, new market search has steered companies to a new production mentality with low production volume and a large variety of models. This, inevitably led to a change in production systems.
This study has been conducted to create a model for companies which would like to implement cellular manufacturing system in order to quickly adapt to changing market conditions. For this reason research has been conducted in a company which produced jackets and trousers for ladies. A classical ladies jacket and trousers production process has been observed in the company and operation knowledges collected. Later, in order to determine machine cells, Similarity Coefficient Method have been chosen and similarities between machinery couples have been identified and cells have been formed. According to the results of this research; a classical ladies jacket and trousers consist of 26 parts and the process to produce them has needed 14 types machines. Five production cells have been formed by the similarity coefficient method that was used for the formation machine groups and part families in this study.
