Sock, as a basic need of human, in addition to the being an important accessory with different color and design, is also very important for human health. Thermal comfort is very important parameter for usage performance of socks.
In this research thermal comfort properties of the socks knitted with the most popular fibers in this area such as wool, acrylic, cotton and PA were investigated and the results analyzed. The thermal resistance, thermal absorptivity, thermal conductivity, water vapour permeability, air permeability of samples were measured by using Alambeta, Permetest, FX3300 air permeability tester devices respectively.
The results show that thermal conductivity values of wool socks are lower than acrylic socks. Thermal resistance values of wool-acrylic socks are higher than % 100 acrylic socks and give warm sense at first contact. The socks which contain PA fibres give high thermal conductivity and thermal absorptivity values.
